It is to be noted that major airfare goes towards fuel surcharge, airport fee, taxes and other fees while only a small part of the total fare makes up the base fare.
Under a limited period sale, the Malaysian airline company, a 51:49 JV of Tata Sons and AirAsia has announced a discount offer with base fare of Rs. 99 and Rs. 444 for domestic and international flights respectively across the company's Indian airline network.

To further make the offer lucrative, the company has tied up with Mobikwik and Treebo hotels to offer an additional discount of upto Rs. 1000 and flat 25% to AirAsia travellers booking this discounted air ticket respectively.
The booking under the offer have begun last night and remain open until November 19 and are valid for travel between May 2018 and January 2019.
"With base fares from as low as Rs 99 for travel next year, you can make use of this promo...We hope the partnerships that we have got into for this promotion will enable you to plan your holiday better," AirAsia India managing director and chief executive officer Amar Abrol said in the release.
As a special offer for its passengers from Kolkata to an international location, Johor Bahru, the company said customers will need to pay only towards taxes and other fares while base fare remains zero.
An airline airfare is majorly constituted by airport fee, fuel surcharge, taxes and other charges.
Customers willing to avail the offer can book their tickets from the company's website and mobile app.
