Are you a frequent air flyer, get ready to splurge more on the airfare as the government is mulling a hike in passenger services fee (PSF). The hike is expected to be around 38% and is being considered to meet expenses incurred by airlines in respect of airport security.
Airfares constitute several components that include base fare, air turbine fuel charges, passenger services fees. The passenger services include information signages, Wi-Fi, baggage trolleys, conveyor belt, escalators and security.
This has come after the government has declined to fund the deficit faced by the aviation industry.
The impact is likely to be Rs. 50 per air ticket. Currently, a passenger services is charged @ Rs. 130 per ticket.
