SBI Changes Branch Name And IFSC Code Of Over 1200 Branches

With this change, while doing any transaction with SBI, you need to keep note of the changes.

After consolidation in the banking major in the beginning of the FY 2018, SBI has now changed names of over 1200 bank branches together with changes in IFSC code. These include some of the branches of the bank which got merged with it.

The complete list has been hosted on the bank's website together with the changes made. The SBI bank branches of cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bhopal, Patna, Hyderabad and many others have witnessed this change.

Take for instance, the IFCI Tower branch of Delhi is now renamed as Nehru Place branch and its branch code and IFSC code is now 04688 and SBIN04688 as against 32602 and SBIN32602. So, while doing any transaction you need to careful.

An IFSC code also known as Indian Financial System Code is typical of a bank branch and is a pre-requisite for making wire transfer including NEFT, RTGS and IMPS. These codes are provided by the RBI to the bank.
