As per a release, under the PMAY (Urban) scheme, the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the construction of additional 5.4 lakh affordable homes for urban poor.

Of the total affordable houses approved, UP, AP and Karnataka have been sanctioned 1,20,645, 1,42,447 and 1,18,646 housing units respectively. While states including MP, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and AP have got the approval for 1,00,341, 30,486, 29,703 and 2,822 dwelling units respectively.

The grant that shall be extended by the Centre towards the scheme will be Rs. 8107 crores while in the construction a sum of Rs 31,003 shall be involved.

With the latest sanction, PMAY (Urban) will fund a total of 3.7 million units.
