India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki saw an increase in sales of 10.3% in December 2016 in comparison to December 2016. The company sold 130,066 units compared to 117,908 in December 2016, reported PTI.
The sales include 119,286 units in the domestic market which is up by 12.1% compared to 106,414 units in December 2016.
The sale of the compact segment consisting of Swift, Estilo, Dzire, and Baleno jumped by 23.2% whereas mid-sized sedan Ciaz declined by 35.8% to 2,382 units compared to the same month in 2016.
Mini segment cars like Alto and Wagon R saw a 2% (32,146 units) rise and utility vehicles like Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross and compact SUV Vitara Brezza increased by 19.9 percent to 19,276 units.
Sales of vans Omni and Eeco increased by 23.8 percent to 11,420 units last month as against 9,224 units in the year-ago period.
Exports in December were down 6.2 percent to 10,780 units as compared with 11,494 units in the same month last year, reported PTI.
