In case the recommendations made by the fare committee are accepted by the Railway Board, like the airline industry you will able to save on fares in case you make your travel bookings in advance.

The panel has come with a graded set of discounts for railway booking as per the PTI report anyway in the range of 20-50% depending on the number of vacant seats at the booking time.

Similarly for booking after the charting has been done, discount is being sought. This discount can be provided in slots from 2 days to just 2 hours in advance of travel departure.

The PTI report further said before the board of railways puts the suggestion into implementation some changes are likely to be made.

Also, higher fares are proposed for lower berths and for rail travel during festivities. The relaxation shall be offered to pregnant women, senior citizens and disable who will be able to secure the lower berths free of additional cost.

In case the travel departs late as in delayed trains, there is also a proposal to provide discounts to travellers who travel in these delayed trains.
