In its largest recruitment drive, the Indian railways has announced an hiring plan of upto 1 lakh candidates as per the tweet by Piyush Goyal the Union Minister for Railways on Wednesday.
Also to cater to the government's Skill India Initiative, the department has also set a target of training as many as 30000 apprentices.
A notification per se vacancies in the railway department has been made with 62,907 openings in the Group D cadre or Level 1 pay scale. And as per the recent amendments made to the Apprentices Act, of these vacancies kept open for the Level 1 pay scale class, over some 12000 vacancies shall be filled by apprentices who have received training in railway establishments.
The recruitment drive shall be conducted by the Railway Recruitment Cell and the selected candidates shall be getting a monthly salary of Rs. 18000 per month and receive allowances in accordance with 7th Central Pay Commission (Level 1).
In the Group D cadre are included vacancies for switchman, porter, welder and trackman. And those who have a class 10th pass degree or an ITI diploma are eligible for the opening.
