WPI Inflation For January Eases To 2.84%
The annual wholesale price inflation or WPI inched down or moderated to 2.84% as against the corresponding period last year. Also for the December month of 2017, the rise had been to the scale of 3.58
The WPI inflation data for the January month came in today and as in the previous month have sunked for the second straight month. This has been attributed primarily to soft increase in fuel and food prices.

The released data has come in lower than the estimated forecast of WPI inflation for January at 3.25% by Reuters.
The Wholesale prices of food for the January month rose by 1.65% on a year on year basis while it inched higher by 2.91% in the month earlier.
