Before March 31, Income Tax Dept Shows Confidence In Taxpayers Says 'We Trust You'

Exuding confidence in taxpayers in India, Income Tax dept on Friday said 'We Trust You'. The statement has been made just ahead of the March 31, 2018 deadline which is the last date to file tax returns for the AY 2016-17 as well as 2017-18. Also, in case the revised returns are to be filed in respect of the AY 2016-17 then the coming March 31 stands as the deadline. As per IT dept, late filing in respect of the revised return for the said AY is not allowed.

On its twitter handle, the tax department said that the login portal through which returns can be filed is http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

ITR has to be mandatorily filed by following taxpayer category

1. Individuals or HUFs with income earnings of over Rs. 2.5 lakhs in a year (for senior citizens aged between 60 and 80 years the rebate of Rs. 50000 is extended) while for others aged above returns have to be filed if income is Rs. 5 lakhs.

2. All companies, partnership concerns, LLPs

3. Trust, associations, political parties.

For the ongoing financial year, businesses are required to file returns by September 30, 2018 while salaried class have to file return by July 31.
