As per a research report, Ethereum crypto has surpassed Bitcoin in the Indian subcontinent as the most searched cryptocurrency over the period of last 5 months and the trend is still continuing.

Of all the searches for cryptos, searches for ethereum in the country constitute 34.4% followed by bitcoin for which searches stand at 29.9% of the total, a study by free internet provider Jana discovered.

Though the difference is not much, world over people seem to have high hopes of return from ethereum currency as well.

Regulatory clampdown by the government and central bank through repeated circulars has given a blow to the popularity of Bitcoin in India.

The next popular currency title was shared by BuyUCoin with a 21.3% share in the overall searches then came in Dash with 5.3% share, Neo and Litecoin at 4.3% and 2.4% share respectively.

Popular currency search terms and exchange site visits were analyzed across the company's mCent browser application from October 2017 to February 2018.

During last week of February, searches for ethereum almost doubled in comparison to Bitcoin searches.
