Flipkart has partnered with MakeMyTrip to sell bus, air and train tickets along with hotel booking on its shopping platform. MakeMyTrip includes Goibibo and redBus brands.
The Indian e-commerce giant, Flipkart has announced its entry into the travel and hospitality market by officially partnering with MakeMyTrip. Service brands of MakeMyTrip include Goibibo and redBus too.
This will mean that you can buy train, bus and air tickets and book hotel rooms while you shop on Flipkart.

However, for now, only the domestic flight tickets will go online in a few days on Flipkart's platform. Hotels, bus and holiday packages will be gradually added.
With this deal, MakeMyTrip will be able to gather Flipkart's strong customer base of 100 million registered users, while the e-commerce website will be able to reap the benefits of the growing online travel segment in India which is expected to grow annually at 11 to 11.5% to $48 billion by 2020 (as per a Boston Consulting Group and Google India report).
CEO of Flipkart, Kalyan Krishnamurthy said, "Flipkart and MakeMyTrip have played a defining role in shaping the consumer internet ecosystem in India and bringing millions of people online. This strategic partnership helps us make travel booking a seamless experience for customers, even those in the farthest regions, while also furthering our goal of being a one-stop destination for all digital transactions online."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The services will be available in a separate travel vertical on the website. Flipkart is also looking for new hires to head the business addition.
