Tough competition has led the industry withdraw its yester-year policy of hiking airfares by a huge amount just ahead of the summer breaks which as per industry starts with the end of April month.
Airfares in comparison to last year have fallen sharply by huge 30% on domestic routes. This could mean heavy surge in passengers while at the same time airlines may suffer on their yields parameter. As per executives at premier travel companies peak season average prices are the lowest this year which have been falling since last many years.
India's biggest travel company by revenue Make My Trip anticipates air travellers to make the most of these attractive air fares this season. A drop in pricing by 29% on a year-on-year basis in April and May of 2018 is on the vigil and the industry is set to sell tickets for air travel on local routes at the cheapest rates this summer season globally.
