Gold Worth Rs 2.6 Cr Found in Dubai-Mumbai Jet Airways Flight
An investigation has been initiated by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs regarding the gold bars that were found in a Jet Airways flight bound for Mumbai from Dubai on Tuesday night.
During a routine post-flight cabin inspection after landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai, the Jet Airways team recovered six gold bars with foreign markings weighing 1,000 grams each and six pieces of cut gold.
The total gold found weighs 8,9990 grams and is valued at Rs 2.59 crore. The pieces of gold were found under the cushions of 2 passenger seats inside the airplane 9W 579 as per the statements made by the customs officials to the press.
Jet Airways has handed over the case to the Mumbai customs intelligence unit for alleged gold smuggling investigation.
