Retirement fund body today announced the launch of a new service using which pensioners will be able to view their pension account passbook over the UMANG app. The app launched by the government of India last year is a one-stop solution to a host of government services such as gas booking, NPS, EPF, aadhaar and crop insurance.

The statement by the labour ministry said 'View Pension Passbook' service shall now on be available for pensioners via Umang app.

The new facility is in line with the retirement fund's body (EPFO) aim to go paperless by August and to render all its service digitally.

With the facility, pensioners seeking to view their passbook can click on the View Passbook option and enter the PPO number along with date of birth for accessing the details. On validation of the provided details, an OTP will be then sent to the registered mobile number of the pensioner. Thereafter, on submitting the OPT, details on latest pension amount credited can be reviewed by the pensioner. The passbook facility will also enable the pensioner to download year wise passbook details.

Already, the fund body is providing a range of services to its subscribers online. These include employee centric services such as EPF passbook, claim request, tracking of the claim request made etc; employer centric services that include TRRN status, remittance details by establishment ID; general services such as search establishment; pensioner service of Updation of Jeevan Praman.
