IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) has launched a new service to book Tatkal tickets on its Android app "Rail Connect".
Using IRCTC's e-wallet facility, you can deposit money in the app before you try to book a tatkal ticket. This will help you get through the ticket booking process faster.
How to Use IRCTC E-wallet to Book Tatkal Ticket?
Firstly, register yourself on the e-wallet facility using IRCTC's website. You have the option to place 6 banks on the website's preference list. Then set the e-wallet option as your default payment option within the app for a faster exit from the booking process.
Tatkal Ticket Rules
- Tatkal tickets are booked a day before the journey. For example, if you wish to travel on Tuesday, the booking for it will open on Monday morning. You can book AC tatkal tickets from 10 am and non-AC from 11 am.
- If the train is late by more than 3 hours, you can apply for a complete refund from IRCTC for the fare with tatkal charges. You can also apply for a refund if there is a change in the train route, such that either the boarding station or destination station or both are not on the route.
- In case you are accommodated in a lower class than the one you booked and do not wish to travel in the same, you can claim a full refund.
