The aadhaar issuing body UIDAI has come up with a new facility that will help aadhaar card holders to download their aadhaar update history. This will come in handy when applying for some of the services like passport and visa or other sundry works as using it the person's residency can then be ascertained for last few years.

The new facility is an enhancement to the previous self-authentication feature provided by the authority earlier.

Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of Aadhaar said, "This is yet another innovative and useful facility through which people can now obtain their own Aadhaar update history from the UIDAI's website and can use it in support of their assertion of address, etc. We have launched its Beta version.

"Providing Aadhaar update history will bring in more trust and further empower people because they can now use their update history to the authorities while applying for jobs, school admissions, various services or benefits, etc, because in most such cases they are usually asked to provide their address for the last two or three years", added Pandey.

How to view Aadhaar update history?

The aadhaar issuing body has launched the beta version of the facility and to avail it users need to visit the UIDAI portal and click on the ' Aadhaar update history' link under the aadhaar update section. The new page will open asking you the aadhaar or virtual Id and security captcha, upon entering the two details, OTP with a 30-minute validity will be sent to your registered mobile number. Once you key in the OTP, the history with all the details such as date, type of update and address will be provided.

Furthermore, as per the UIDAI sources, date-wise details of different updates made in respect of address and other fields, such as name of the aadhaar card holder, date of birth, gender, e-mail or mobile number, made in aadhaar since its generation will constitute the aadhaar update history.
