As per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon is the wealthiest person on earth with a net worth of $161 billion. Next in the list is Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates whose net worth is lower by about $55 billion than Bezos. In the year 1999, Bill Gates total net worth clocked $100 billion, which is worth approximately $149 billion today in inflation-adjusted terms.

In the list, Reliance Industries Limited Mukesh Ambani also featured on the 11th spot. His profile reads "Ambani controls 40 percent of Reliance Industries, owner of the world's largest oil refining complex. The Mumbai-based conglomerate's other businesses include a 4G wireless network across India. The billionaire also owns a residential property worth more than $400 million and the Mumbai Indians professional cricket team." As per the report, Ambani's net worth is now $48.3 billion with a net change of 603 million.

The report also highlighted the fact that since 1982 Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, is richer than any other person on earth. In the same year Forbes began publishing its inaugural wealth ranking.
The e-commerce giant Amazon has posted robust second quarterly earnings with a profit of $857 million as against $92 million in the year ago period. The company has also infused funds into Amazon Pay, its India-based payments company, to the tune of Rs. 230 crore as it aims at strengthening its footprint in the country and compete with players such as Paytm and PhonePe.
