In September 2018, the maximum number of jobs were created in the 18 to 21 years age bracket followed by the 22 to 25 years age group. In its statement, EPFO said that the data is provisional as the update of employees records is a continuous process and will be updated in subsequent months.

"This is age-band wise data of new members registered under the EPFO where the first non-zero contribution received during particular month. For each age-wise band, the estimates are net of the members newly enrolled, exited and rejoined during the month as per records of the EPFO," it further said. These estimates may include temporary employees whose contributions may not be continuous for the entire year. The data from members are linked to Aadhaar.

The EPFO is responsible for managing social security funds of workers in the organised/semi organised sector in India. It has over 6 crore active members. A member is considered active when there has been at least one-month contribution during the year under their name.
