4 Indian Origin Women Among Forbes' Top 50 Women In Tech In The US
In Forbes' list of America's top 50 Women in technology, the magazine named four executives of Indian origin.
1. Komal Mangtani: Rank 30
The 43-year old alumnus of Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology in Gujarat heads the business intelligence at Uber and holds the position of senior director. She previously served as the vice president of engineering at Box and also led product development of VMWare's cloud service products. She holds an MBA degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She currently also serves as a board member of the non-profit organisation 'Women Who Code.'
2. Neha Narkhede: Rank 35
Narkhede is the co-founder of Confluent, a company that specialises in building Apache Kafka- a streaming platform that enables companies organise and process huge influx of data from their website in real-time. She is 32 years old and an alumnus of Pune University. She moved to the US to pursue her Masters in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. She co-founded the company with her co-workers at LinkedIn, where she previously worked. The major customers of the Confluent include Netflix, Uber and Goldman Sachs.
3. Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan: Rank 43
Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan is the 43-year old founder of Drawbridge, a company that uses artificial intelligence to identify devices people use with the data the devices generate. It helps advertisers find a way to show ads across these devices. She earlier worked as a data scientist with a mobile ad platform called AdMob, that Google acquired later in 2009. After her undergraduate studies in Mumbai, she pursued her studies in information theory at Stanford.
4. Padmasree Warrior: Rank 48
She served as the US CEO and chief development officer of a Chinese electric autonomous vehicle startup called NIO. News reports suggest that she resigned from her position as the CEO at NIO today, after three years of service for a "career change." She is 58 years old and previously served executive positions at Cisco and Motorola. Born and raised in Vijayawada, she completed her bachelor's in chemical engineering from IIT, Delhi and holds a masters degree in the same from Cornell University.
