The private banks continue to do their usual business even as the Union of PSU banks are on a strike due to demand for wage revision on an immediate basis. As well it is a protest call for merger of three state-run banks on the anvil.

AIBOC strike is likely to hit banking services across the country with holidays extending to the next week given the Christmas festival and another strike call on December 26 by the UFBU, an umbrella body of the top nine bank unions.

AIBOC joint general secretary Ravinder Gupta said, "We have demanded wage revision based on the minimum wages formula without linking to profits or paying capacity."
