On Friday, the government announced that it will roll out the next tranche of SGBs on December 24. The introduction of SGBs was to counter the imbalance in trade balance as well as push investors to look for financial savings in gold as against physical gold.

The instrument offers interest rate at the rate of 2.5% per annum. Issuance of the bond will be made on January 1, while the issue will be available until December 28, 2018.
And those applying online will be able to get a discount of Rs. 50 per gram. Interest will be paid semi-annually on the nominal value of investment.
