However, we as owners of these cards, need to carry out enhanced security while engaging in such transactions as even govt's attempt is failing to stop these heists.

Of late there has come to notice a one time password (OTP) theft in the IT city Bengaluru, in it either the victims are conned to provide OTP or a software is designed for corrupting or gaining access to a system is used for getting the SMSes along with the OTPs. And thus with access to OTPs, miscreants transfer amount from victims' account to theirs.

So, to prevent any such fraud, do not believe the name as shown on apps such as truecaller, do not fall prey to providing your unique and confidential card details etc. Also, do not on the callers say read out the SMS detailing the OTP.

OTP thefts which also form the part of vishing is an offence that needs to be checked upon and ringing in awareness is an attempt to safeguard customers from such frauds.
