Jaitley May Break Tradition And Present Full Budget Instead On Feb 1
On Thursday, FM Arun Jaitley made a strong case that due to the several challenges confronting the economy, the budget which otherwise has to be an interim one due to the general elections this year may well go beyond the usual vote on account.
"Convention has always been that election year Budget is an interim Budget. The larger interest of the nation dictates what will be a part of the interim Budget," he said at an award function organised by a TV channel. Also as the minister is out in the US for his treatment, there are speculations whether or not Jaitley will be able to perform the crucial task.
Of the various issues, plaguing the Indian economy, the prime one is of the agriculture wherein there is an increased production but prices of the produce are increasing at a slower rate.
Also, there can be likely tax sops announced for the middle class, salaried and pensioners with expectations that the tax exemption limit may be doubled to Rs. 5 lakh.
