Economic Survey that details on the condition of the economy is presented a day before the Budget day but there shall be no Economic Survey today as in the case of other traditional budget, and it shall however be tabled along with the full budget in July after the new government comes to power post assembly elections in May.
No Economic Survey Today; To Be Likely Presented With Full Budget
It was widely expected that Narendra Modi government in order to regain lost ground may break the tradition and announce a full-budget instead on February 1, which will now be presented by interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, and come up with sops for general masses in order to attract votes.
And the scenario is however clarified by the Finance Ministry who has called the Budget as Interim Budget 2019-20.
Last interim budget or vote on account for approval of essential government spending till the new government comes to power was announced by P. Chidambaram in February 2014, while the full budget was presented in July by Arun Jaitley.
