Every household in India is allowed a maximum of 12 cylinders per year at subsidized rates after which the users have to pay the full price mentioned above. Subsidies are, however, credited directly to the user's bank account and the one has to purchase the cylinder at full price.
In the previous months, there was a steep price cut of as much as Rs 120.50 per cylinder in January and Rs 133 in December on non-subsidized ones. These rates are revised at the start of every month based on international fuel prices and the currency exchange rate. GST (goods and service tax) is further imposed on the market price and the subsidy provided by the government also varies accordingly.
