7 Most Generous Businessmen In Hurun India Philanthropy List 2018
The Hurun Research Institute released its latest report last Saturday called the Hurun India Philanthropy List 2018. The list ranks Indians who have donated above Rs 10 crore between 1 October 2017 and 30 September 2018. The total donations during this period amounted to Rs 1,560 crore and the list includes 39 Indians.
Among the top ten were Gautam Adani (Chairman and founder of Adani Group) ranked 10 for donations worth Rs 30 crore, and Cyrus Mistry (Ex-Chairman of Tata Group) and Shapoor Pallonji Mistry (from the Shapoor Pallonji Group) who were tied at the eighth position for donations worth Rs 36 crore. All three businessmen had donated towards education.
Here are the ones who made it to the top 7 of the list:
7. Savji Dholakia
The founder and chairman of Hari Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd made donations amounting to Rs 40 crore for livelihood enhancement. His net worth is $650 million.
6. Shiv Nadar
The founder and chairman of HCL Technologies had made donations amounting to Rs 56 crore for education. His net worth is $14.6 billion.
5. Yusuff Ali MA
The chairman and managing director of the LuLu Group had made donations amounting to Rs 70 crore towards disaster relief. His net worth is $4.7 billion.
4. Adi Godrej
The chairman of Godrej Group made donations amounting to Rs 96 crore for livelihood enhancement. His net worth is $2.7 billion.
3. Azim Premji
The chairman of Wipro Ltd donated Rs 133 crore towards education. He is worth $22.6 billion.
2. Ajay Piramal
The chairman of Piramal Enterprises donated Rs 200 crore for education. His networth is $4.3 billion.
1. Mukesh Ambani
The Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries Limited and also the richest Indian donated Rs 437 crore towards education. It should be noted that RIL is the sole beneficiary of the Independent Media Trust that controls Network18 Media & Investments Ltd.
His net worth is $49.4 billion.
