India's Bank NPAs Worst In The World; Surpasses Italy
Among the major world economies, India' has the worst NPA ratio and it has even surpassed the bad loan figure of Italy.
In December, the Reserve Bank of India said banking bad loans or non-performing loans ratio declined for the first time since 2015. Furthermore, it said the NPAs to be far high for comfort.
Italy on the other hand managed to quickly reduce its bad loan ratio, with NPAs coming from their highs in 2016 of more than 360 billion euros to 200 billion euros. India's pile of $190 billion in NPAs has curbed investment landscape and also landed the future of some lenders in doubt.
