Petrol Prices Unchanged, Diesel Prices Cut As Crude Falls Globally

The state-owned oil marketing companies in India kept the petrol prices unchanged on Monday while diesel prices were reduced by an average of 11 paise across cities.

These rates are reset every morning based on the international oil prices and exchange rates of the rupee against the US dollar.

The global benchmark for oil, Brent crude fell by 0.7 percent on Monday to $66.56 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were down by 0.9 percent to $58.52 per barrel.

The downward movement in the international markets is on account of the looming concerns of a potential recession in the US after the bearish remarks made by the Federal Reserve's Chairman last week. Its 10-year treasury yields slipped below the three-month rate for the first time since 2007.
