The Indian stock and forex markets are closed today for Good Friday. After yet again reaching new highs in intra-day trade, both Sensex and Nifty after hitting a new high of 39,487.45 and 11,856, respectively slipped in trade on Thursday as the investors were trading cautiously amid poll and Q4 earnings season. The BSE Sensex ended at 39,140, down 135 points, while the broader NSE Nifty50 settled at 11,753, slipping 34 points.

On Tuesday also Sensex and Nifty hit new record highs backed by stocks from the banking space due to continued buying by foreign investors as hopes remain high of NDA government coming to power.

The yield on 10-year government bond ended at 7.56 per cent on Thursday, while the Indian rupee settled at 69.34 versus the US dollar.
