Rupee in Monday's trade opened lower at 69.40, down 18 paise, in comparison to previous day's close of 69.223 per US dollar.
Rupee Trades Lower At 69.40
This has come on the back of oil prices surge as any increase in oil prices puts pressure directly on the country's trade number and hence the rupee is impacted.
Also, tracking the rising US-China trade tensions after the US President Trump announcement imposition of higher tariffs on some of the Chinese goods, Nifty and Sensex are likely to open lower.
Meanwhile, in the pre-opening session, benchmark indices opened almost flat with a positive bias.
