To provide an edge to women and disabled class, the railways is planning a specially reserved coach for them in premium trains including Shatabdi, Duronto and Rajdhani. And for the same, the behemoth is planning an upgraded power car.

With the new advent, as against the two coaches developed by Link Hofmann Bosch or LHB, the single upgraded power car will be able to power the entire car. And since one of the power coach then can be done away with, there will be left space for a coach that can be reserved for women and differently abled people.

And for the new coach, the Integral Coach Factory or ICF that is into manufacturing of rakes for railways has developed two models of rakes with power car with all back-up equipment in the underslung.

In the budget announcement this year, Piyush Goyal said all the old coaches will be substituted with new and safer LHB coaches.
