In Monday's trade rupee opened lower at 70.14 per US dollar as against Friday's close of 69.91, with a drop of 23 paise.

Meanwhile, on the back of US-China trade deal impasse, oil fell in price. The escalation in trade tension is seen with no progress between the US and Chinese negotiators. Also, on the domestic front, the release of IIP data further pressurized the rupee as it declined by 0.1%, the most in 17 months time.
