In a rather unusual reward, top taxpayers of the country may be invited for tea with Prime Minister Narendra Modi or newly appointed finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. As per a leading daily news report, the plan is being worked on to reward the top taxpayers.

In the process, the government will ask the wealthy to part with some of their money and in turn give them some other non-monetary incentives. This it may do so in case the government falls short of revenue sources.
Further the report citing a source familiar with the development said the scheme may be announced in the upcoming Full Budget 2019, the first budget of the Modi 2.0 government.
In the current practice, diligent taxpayers are awarded with a certificate of appreciation from the Income Tax department.
