Trumps Administration Plans No Limit For H1 B Visa
The State Department said that the Trump administration has no plans to limit the H1 B work visa for nations that are forcing to store and maintain data locally.
On Wednesday, the Reuters report said that the US is mulling to cap the limit for H1 B visas for nations that are having data storage requirements. As per the H1 B visa program, foreign skilled workers are issued US visas.
"The Trump Administration has no plans to place caps on H-1B work visas for nations that force foreign companies to store data locally," a State Department spokeswoman said in a statement in response to the Reuters article.
It is "completely separate from our ongoing discussions with India about the importance of ensuring the free flow of data across borders," the spokeswoman added.
Foreign ministry spokesman in a news conference told, "We have not heard anything officially from the U.S. government" on capping such permits for Indians.
Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, is scheduled to come next week to India to discuss the issues of disagreement on trade between the 2 nations.
