In the next 2 decades time, the country is likely to register a sharp fall in population. During the period, all of the leading states have logged a noticeable deceleration in population. And this is particularly prominent in case of states that typically have been known for high population growth historically such as UP, Haryana and Rajasthan.
Further as across the country there has been seen sharp fall in total fertility rates or TFR, demography in the age bracket between 0-19 years has already peaked.
It is expected that by 2031-41, there will almost nil level population growth in the state of Andhra Pradesh and in other states including the likes of Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab and Maharashtra, it will likely grow at the rate of 0.1-0.2%.
