Rupee slips past 70 mark at the opening to trade at its lowest level since May 17 of 70.14, declining 55 paise in comparison to previous day's closing of 69.59.

On Friday, also there was similar downtrend seen in the home currency which was weighed down to a fresh escalation in US-China trade war and surging oil prices.

Earlier in the past week, the US announced to impose additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods worth US$ 300 billion.

Meanwhile, Indian equities also have dragged down heavily by as much as 500 points on the Sensex.
