Flights between Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi will commence on 6 December and will fly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays while services from Hanoi to New Delhi will begin on 7 December.

Vietjet had revealed its plan to fly to India in 2018.

Meanwhile, India's leading budget airline, IndiGo, will also be soon providing connectivity to Vietnam to travellers from India.

Last month, the airline said that it will launch its services to Vietnam in October. Subject to government approvals, non-stop daily flights between Kolkata and Hanoi are scheduled to start on 3 October.

At present, no Indian airlines has direct flights to Vietnam.

VietJet was Vietnam's first privately owned new-age airline that received approval to operate from the Vietnamese Finance Ministry in November 2007. However, due to various setback, it flew its first flight on 25 December 2011 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi.
