On account of the festivities and other national holidays, banks will remain shut for as many as 11 days in the month of October. It is to be noted that national holidays apply for both public and private sector banks. Nonetheless, the dates can vary from bank to bank as well as from state to state.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) notification, October holiday list is inclusive of the second and fourth Saturdays, Sundays and they are exclusive of the public holidays in different states.
So, with 11 holidays there shall be just 20 working days for bank and other government offices for the month of October.

October 6 - Sunday
October 7- Maha Navmi
October 8- Dusshera
October 12 and 13- Second Saturday and Sunday
October 20- Sunday
October 26, 27- Saturday, Sunday
October 28 and 29- Govardhan Puja and Bhai dooj
