Domestic Car Sales Fell 33% In September; 11th Consecutive Month Of Decline
According to data released by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) on Friday, domestic car sales fell by 33.4 percent to 1,31,281 units this September when compared to 1,97,124 units in September 2018.
Total domestic passenger vehicle sales declined by 23.69 percent to 2,23,317 units in the last month from 2,92,660 units a year ago. It is the eleventh consecutive month of fall in vehicle sales.
Motorcycle sales in September 2019 dropped by 23.29 percent to 10,43,624 units as against 13,60,415 units in the same month of the previous year.
As for the total two-wheeler sales, September saw a 22.09 percent dip to 16,56,774 units when compared to 21,26,445 units a year ago.
Sales of commercial vehicles fell by 39.06 percent to 58,419 units as against 95,870 units in the same period of the last year, SIAM said.
Medium and heavy vehicles saw a sales of 14,855 units, a massive 62.11 percent drop from a year-ago.
Vehicle sales across categories registered a decline of 22.41 percent to 20,04,932 units from 25,84,062 units in September 2018, it added.
