On the occasion of Laxmi Pujan in the Diwali season, investors in India consider it auspicious to purchase equity. Stock exchanges in India facilitate this belief by organising a 1-hour Mahurat trading session on the day of Laxmi Pujan and the session coincides with the beginning of the Hindu calendar year or Vikram Samvat.

This year, stock exchanges NSE and BSE will be open for Mahurat Trading on Sunday, 27 October.
- Pre-opening session: 6:00 pm to 6:08 pm
- Trading session: 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm
All trades executed in this Diwali Mahurat trading session shall result in settlement obligations.
