22 Carat Gold Rate Today (23/10/2026) Drops Rs 17,500 At Tanishq, IBJA, Joyalukkas, Malabar Before Diwali

Gold rates at top jewelers in India has crashed significantly on October 23, 2026, just as Diwali is around the corner. At Tanishq alone, 22-carat gold price nosedived by at least Rs 17,500 in 100 grams, while 24-carat slipped below Rs 1,42,300 per 10 grams mark. The performance is due to broad-based sell-offs in physical gold rates of India up to Rs 19,000 per 100 grams in 24-carat and Rs 17,500 in 916 purity. Gold is expected to find support as Dhanteras demand absorbs the current correction.

How Dhanteras Will Impact Gold?

As per Rajeev Sharan, Head of Research, Brickwork Ratings, the rupee held in a narrow band on Friday, opening 3 paise firmer at 94.78 before softening toward 95.15 to the dollar by afternoon, while 24-karat gold slipped another Rs 1,900 to Rs 1.42 lakh per 10 grams in its third straight decline. What changed today is a rare split in market logic: Brent crude surging toward USD 114 on Middle East tanker strikes is weakening the rupee through India's oil import bill, yet that same energy shock is reigniting global inflation fears, lifting US bond yields, and dragging gold prices down.

Further, he added that the divergence matters because festive buyers are getting an unexpected discount even as geopolitical tensions boil. Looking ahead, the rupee will face friction around 95.30 as oil remains elevated, while gold should find solid support near current levels as Dhanteras demand absorbs this temporary pullback.
