3% Hike In DA Possible, Decision Likely To Come Today In Cabinet Meeting, Sources

Central government employees can get the gift of three percent increase in Dearness Allowance or DA. The Center government can take a decision on increasing DA for government employees today. It will benefit 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners.

Dearness Allowance

This decision is likely to be approved in the meeting of the Union Cabinet to be held on Wednesday. Sources say that the DA's file is included in the agenda of the cabinet. If there is an increase of three per cent, the DA will be increased from 31 per cent to 34 per cent. The increased DA rates may be applicable from January 1. 2022.

The hike in dearness allowance will help thousands of beneficiaries tide over the rising prices of petrol-diesel, LPG cylinders and oil after two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision to revision the DA was on hold for more than 1 year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After a long gap, the Centre government increased the Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for central government employees to 28% from 17% in July 2021. It was raised again in October 2021, after a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance bringing it to 31%, beginning July 2021.
