7-Eleven Stores Now In India; Reliance Retail To Open First Outlet In This City

The retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd announced on Thursday that it has signed a franchise agreement with 7-Eleven Inc to open convenience stores in India, only days after Future Retail Ltd cancelled its arrangement with the American brand.

RIL, which is led by Mukesh Ambani, has stated that 7-Eleven stores strive to provide shoppers with a distinct type of convenience by offering a variety of beverages, snacks, and delicacies, as well as refilling daily needs.

"India is the second-largest country in the world and has one of the fastest-growing economies. It's an ideal time for the largest convenience retailer in the world to make our entry into India" said SEI President and Chief Executive Officer Joe DePinto.

"Our strategic relationship with Reliance Retail Ventures will bring 7-Eleven's brand of convenient products and services to millions of Indian consumers starting in the city of Mumbai," added further.

"SEI will also support RRVL in implementing and localizing the unique 7-Eleven convenience retail business model for India, including bringing best in class processes and practices," RIL's retail arm stated.

7-Eleven is a convenience store business headquartered in the United States that operates, franchises, and licenses over 77,000 shops in 18 countries. It is a chain of convenience stores that sells packaged foods, beverages, personal care products, and other everyday items.
