80 Crore Poor To Get Free Food Grains Till November: Modi
As the country enters into Unlock 2.0 beginning July 1, Prime Minister Modi in his address to the nation today said 80 crore poor will be provided free food grains till November end. As part of the centre's Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 5 kg of wheat or rice and 1 kg of gram per month will be made available to the country's poor population. Further extension of the scheme will cost the government Rs. 90,000 crore.
Also, he stressed that soon all citizens would get 'one nation, one card' that would enable one to get free food grains in any of the state, regardless of the domicile.
Further as the country's Covid 19 count breaches the 5.5 lakh mark, Modi requested all to adhere to social distancing norms for containing the spread of the virus. He urged local authorities to shoulder additional responsibilities and ensure that there is strict implementation of Unlock 2.0 rules.
Besides, he thanked taxpayers and farmer community for extending their cooperation in the country's fight against the deadly infection.
