A glance at PM-KISAN Scheme
Just at the beginning of the introduction of the PM-KISAN Scheme (February 2019), its privileges were only permissible to the families of small & marginal farmers, with a maximum landholding of up to 2 hectares. In June 2019, the scheme was later updated and spread to all farming households, regardless of the extent of their land properties. The announcement to provide the benefit of Rs 6,000 per year under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to all 14.5 crore farmers in the country, regardless of the size of their land ownership, was announced by the Central Government. Institutional landowners, agricultural families occupying constitutional positions, existing or retired officers and employees of state or central government, and also public sector affiliations and autonomous government agencies are those restricted from the PM-KISAN. The benefits are also not available for specialists such as physicians, engineers and lawyers, and also elderly pensioners with a monthly pension of over Rs 10,000 and those who paid income tax during the last assessment year.
