8th Pay Commission: Big Update for Central Govt Employees as Panel Extends Memorandum Submission Deadline
The 8th Pay Commission has given central government employees, pensioners, and employee unions more time to submit their demands and recommendations.

In a new update, the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has extended the deadline for memorandum submissions to June 15, 2026, giving stakeholders one final opportunity to present their views on salary revisions, pension reforms, fitment factor changes and allowances.
8th Pay Commission Extends Deadline to June 15.
This is the second extension granted by the panel. The original deadline was April 30, which was later extended to May 31. The latest notification pushes the deadline further to June 15.
"This is the final timeline for submission. No further extension shall be granted," the Commission stated, putting an end to speculation about additional time being provided.
The extension will benefit organisations and employee bodies that are still in the process of finalising their recommendations and demands before the Commission begins detailed consultations.
8th Pay Commission Memorandum Process
The memorandum submission process is one of the most important stages in the functioning of any Pay Commission. It allows stakeholders to present demands related to pay revision, pension restructuring, allowances, promotions, service conditions and retirement benefits.
The recommendations submitted by employee associations and pensioner groups often play a huge role in shaping the final report of the Pay Commission.
Among the major issues expected to dominate submissions this year are demands for a higher fitment factor, salary revision across pay levels, pension rationalisation, and discussions around the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
The 8th Pay Commission has opened the process to multiple stakeholders.Eligible participants include serving central government employees, retired employees, pensioners, family pensioners, defence personnel, veterans, ex-servicemen, employee unions, federations, associations, ministries, departments and Union Territories.
How to Submit a Memorandum
The Commission has clarified that submissions will only be accepted through the official online system available on the 8th CPC website and the MyGov platform.
Hard-copy submissions, PDF uploads and email-based representations will not be accepted.
Regional Consultations Scheduled
The Commission has also announced regional consultations as a stakeholder engagement exercise. One of the upcoming regional meetings is scheduled to be held in Kolkata on July 9 and July 10, 2026. Stakeholders interested in participating in these consultations must submit their requests before June 15.
The 8th Pay Commission process began on March 5, 2026, under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai. Once the memorandum submission process concludes on June 15, the Commission is expected to begin examining representations received from various stakeholders.
