Aadhaar Update: UIDAI To Open 166 Aadhaar Enrolment Centres Across These Cities

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is planning to establish 166 stand-alone Aadhaar enrollment and update centres across India. Furthermore, there are about 52,000 Aadhaar enrolment facilities administered by banks, post offices, and state governments. As part of its aim to build 166 stand-alone Aadhaar enrollment and update centres in 122 cities throughout the country, the UIDAI has launched 55 Aadhaar Seva Kendras. This is in contrast to the approximately 52,000 Aadhaar enrollment facilities operated by banks, post offices, and state governments.

Over 70 lakh citizens, including Divyang individuals, have benefited from these Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs), which are open all day every day. These centres can conduct up to 1,000 Model-A ASK enrolments and update applications per day, up to 500 Model B ASK enrolments and update applications per day, and up to 250 Model C ASK enrolments and update requests per day. From 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., these ASKs are open except for public holidays.

While Aadhaar enrollment is free, there is a minimal fee of Rs. 50 for Demographic Updates and Rs. 100 for Biometric Updates with or without Demographic Updates. The Aadhaar Seva Kendra features an online appointment platform and a token management mechanism with air-conditioned and ample sitting space that efficiently leads individuals through the distinct steps of the Enrolment or Update procedure.

UIDAI has also said via its Twitter handle that "Aadhaar Seva Kendras are delivering quick services related to Aadhaar. Aadhaar is helpful while applying for scholarships and is also used as a relevant document for other educational purposes."
