Aavin Price Hike: Ghee, Butter, Curd and Sweets Get Costlier Ahead of Diwali; Check New Rates

Tamil Nadu's state-run dairy cooperative Aavin has increased the prices of 63 dairy products, including ghee, butter, curd, lassi and sweets, and the new rates are coming into effect today onwards i.e October 28.

The price revision is taking place just a few days before Diwali, when demand for ghee, dairy products and other sweets typically rises.

However, regular liquid milk packet prices will stay the same according to reports. This is the first reported price revision under Chief Minister Vijay's TVK-led government.

Aavin Price Hike: New Rates of Ghee, Butter and Curd

The price hike will be applicable on many commonly purchased dairy products. According to an official website, the price of a 100 ml ghee pack has 18.8% costlier, rising from Rs. 80 to Rs. 95, while the 200 ml pack now costs Rs. 180, up from Rs. 160.
The 500 ml ghee price has risen from Rs. 365 to Rs. 400. For the one-litre pack, the revised price is at Rs. 780, rising from the earlier price of Rs. 700.

Butter prices have also increased. A 100-gram pack now costs Rs. 70, compared with Rs. 60 earlier while a 500 ml curd pack has increased from Rs. 35 to Rs. 40.

Aavin Sweets Become Costlier Before Diwali

Aavin's price revision will also impact sweets and other value-added products, including Mysore pak, palkova, ghee halwa, milk cake, lassi and cookies.
