AC Price Hike 2026: Planning To Buy An AC, TV, Fridge This Diwali? Prices To Rise From October 1
From October onwards buying an air conditioner, television, refrigerator, or washing machine is going to get costlier.
Just as the festive season will start from next month, appliance and consumer electronics makers have planned to raise prices by 5% to 8% effective October 1st.
This is the third industry-wide round of price hikes this year, as manufacturers are struggling with sustained inflation in major input costs.

Reason Behind AC & Other Appliances Price Hike
As per a PTI report, Manufacturers have pointed to multiple reasons behind the latest revision. The rise in prices of copper, aluminium, steel, and crude-oil derivatives has increased the manufacturing costs, while higher freight expenses and currency exchange volatility, all because of the ongoing West Asia crisis, have added further pressure.
How Much Costlier Will Appliances Get?
Air conditioners prices are expected to surge sharply, with prices rising by 5% to 8%. Washing machines, refrigerators, and LED TVs are likely to see a comparatively smaller hike of around 3% to 4%.
As per the report, Companies including Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have already announced or confirmed price increases ranging from 4-10% across categories. Panasonic, meanwhile, said it was still evaluating the situation. Sources also said LG and Bosch Home Comfort, which owns the Hitachi AC brand, have increased AC prices by around 5%.
The festive period which starts from Onam and continues till Dussehra and Diwali typically accounts for 30-40% of appliance makers' annual sales, which is a very important time for sales for the industry.
Now since the prices are set to rise from October 1, consumers who are looking to buy air conditioners, TVs, or other large appliances this season will have to adjust the budget while planning festive purchases.
