Adani Inaugurates South Asia's Largest Ammunition and Missiles Complex

Adani Defence & Aerospace, a pioneer in India's private sector defence manufacturing, has unveiled two groundbreaking facilities dedicated to the production of ammunition and missiles.

These state-of-the-art complexes, the first of their kind in India's private sector, mark a significant milestone in the nation's defence capabilities, promising to enhance self-reliance and technological prowess in defence manufacturing.

The inauguration ceremony, attended by dignitaries including Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and officials from the Ministry of Defence, showcased the unveiling of South Asia's largest facilities.

Notable figures such as Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande AVSM VSM SM ADC and GOC-in-C of Central Command Lt Gen N. S. Raja Subramani PVSM AVSM SM VSM praised Adani Defence's role in strengthening both the state and the nation through its innovative contributions.

The inauguration, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Balakot airstrike 'Operation Bandar', symbolises India's commitment to enhancing its defence capabilities. The Kanpur project, which covers 500 acres, has the potential to grow into one of the biggest integrated ammunition manufacturing complexes in South Asia.

It aims to produce small, medium, and large-calibre ammunition for the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and police. Operations have begun with the production of small-calibre ammunition, expected to cover 25 percent of India's annual requirement.

Yogi Adityanath expressed pride in the facility, citing it as evidence of Uttar Pradesh's transformation into an industrial powerhouse and its dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. He emphasised Adani Defence & Aerospace's role in developing a robust defence ecosystem within the state.

Gen. Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, and ADC, highlighted the importance of self-reliance in missiles and ammunition, praising Adani Defence's investments and dedication to indigenizing critical technologies. He noted the significance of such efforts in light of recent geopolitical events.

CEO Ashish Rajvanshi emphasised the transformative impact of the facilities, highlighting their role in fostering self-reliance and generating employment opportunities. With a planned investment exceeding Rs 3,000 crore, the complexes are expected to create over 4,000 jobs, benefiting MSMEs and the local ecosystem.

The ammunition complex, operational within two years of its announcement, boasts state-of-the-art automation and quality control measures, ensuring safety and reliability. It will house explosive handling facilities for missiles and precision-guided munitions as a complex certified by PESO.

Adani Defence & Aerospace aims to bolster India's defence capabilities while focusing on developing unique capabilities in unmanned systems, counter-drone technologies, and cyber defence. With a commitment to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, the company is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant defence ecosystem in India.
